The country's jewellers have expressed their deep concern over the recent incident of robbery at Kalpana Jewellers from where robbers looted some 160 bhoris of gold.

Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BJS), in a statement issued Saturday, demanded arrest of the culprits and sought stringent action against those who were directly involved in the heinous activity following a fair investigation.

The statement signed by BJS general secretary Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin called upon the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to recover the looted gold and cash and return the same to Kalpana Jewellers.

The robbery took place on April 18 night when the miscreants entered the jewellery shop of Farm View Super Market in the city by breaking its wall. They looted around 160 bhoris of gold and some cash.

The statement said the owner of the shop shut it down at 8:30 pm of April 18. Next morning he came to the shop and after opening it, he found that robbers had broken the wall and looted all the gold of the locker.
