Joint forces arrest ASI while taking bribe

RANGPUR, Sept 22 (BSS): The joint forces arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), Kurigram from his office while taking bribe from an accused person Friday noon, police sources said.
The sources said the DNC personnel of Kurigram arrested one Tazul Islam and seized a huge quantity of rectified spirit from his possession from Ulipur area in Kurigram on august 27 and a case was filed in this connection.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and ASI of Kurigram DNC Jamal Hossain demanded Taka 10,000 from accused Tazul Islam to delete his name from the charge sheet after investigation.
Tazul Islam informed the matter to the joint forces and accordingly members of the joint forces arrested the ASI while taking first installment of Taka 2,000 of settled amount of bribe money from the accused person from his office premises.
The joint forces handed over the arrested ASI to Kurigram Sadar thana police and he was produced before a Kurigram court from where he was sent to jail hajat today, the sources said.
