FE Report
The parliamentary standing committee on the primary and mass education ministry recommended Wednesday not to give registration to any fresh primary school.
It also suggested the ministry to take necessary steps to prevent drop out of primary school students by appointing teachers against the vacant posts to reduce shortfall of teachers in imparting education.
The JS committee made the suggestions at its 8th meeting at parliament building on the day. Committee chairman Motahar Hossain chaired the meeting while other members including Mustafizur Rahman, Jahangir Hossain, Abdur Rahman, Ali Azam, Mohammad Iliyas and Umme Razia Kajol were present.
The committee discussed the report of the field visit to Ananda Schools run under Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROSC) Project. Besides, the issues of recruitment of teachers in the 1500 schools and non-payment of salaries to teachers of the nationalised primary schools were discussed.
As a significant number of students receive education through Ananda Schools, the committee suggested strengthening the quality improvement systems in those schools.
In another meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the science and information technology ministry it was recommended to include an experienced organisation to implement the Rooppur Atomic Power Plant properly and take necessary steps to start the construction work immediately.
The committee made the recommendation at its 4th meeting at the parliament building.
Committee chairman AFM Ruhal Haque chaired the meeting while other members including Aman Ullah, Ayen Uddin, Nurul Islam Milon and Hazera Khatun were present. State minister for Science and ICT ministry Yafes Osman also attended the meeting at special invitation.
The committee discussed the atomic power generation and Rooppur Atomic Power Plant in details. There is a plan to generate 2000 megawatt electricity from the Rooppur Atomic Power Plant by 2021.
