JS body discusses execution of pledges

The parliamentary standing committee on public assurances recommended on Tuesday increasing the highest length of bridges to be built under the ministry for disaster management and relief to 18 metres from existing 12 metres, reports BSS.

The recommendation was made at a meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its Chairman Kazi Keramat Ali in the chair.

Committee members Advocate Rahamat Ali, M Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, AKM Shahjahan Kamal and Mir Mostaq Ahmad Robi attended the meeting.

The meeting held discussions on the implementation of the pledges made by the Prime Minister and the Minister for Disaster Management and Relief in the parliament.

The meeting was told that nine pledges out of 11 made under the ministry for disaster management and relief in the ninth parliament have been implemented so far. It was also told that six assurances have been given under the ministry in the 10th parliament, of which three have already been implemented of the remaining three are under process.
