A parliamentary body recommended the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) on Thursday to take steps for a massive media campaign against 67 blacklisted hajj agencies, reports UNB.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on MoRA at its 10th meeting made the suggestion to carry out the campaign in print and electronic media, so that potential hajj pilgrims would not be cheated.
At the meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad (JS), the committee was informed that some 101,758 Bangladeshi pilgrims are to be allowed to perform hajj in 2015 through a provision of mandatory online registration and having Machine Readable Passports (MRPs).
Of the total pilgrims, some 10,000 will perform hajj in 2015 under government management, while 91,758 pilgrims will do so under private management.
Chaired by the committee chairman Bazlul Haque Haroon, the meeting was attended by committee members Aslamul Haque, AKMA Awal (Saydur Rahman), Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin, Mohammed Amir Hossain and Dilara Begum.
