JS body for increase in number of students in cadet colleges

The Jatiya Sangsad Standing Committee on Defence Ministry on Tuesday suggested an increase in the number of students in cadet colleges along with maintaining the standard of education in the institutions.

The meeting also recommended the Bangladesh Navy to continue its effort to preserve marine resources and reach the benefits of economic activities to the people.

The committee made the suggestions at its 6th meeting at the parliament building with committee chairman Mohammad Subid Ali Bhuiyan in the chair.

Other committee members, who were present in the meeting, included Muhammad Faruq Khan, M Mahbubur Rahman, Dipu Moni, M Ilias Uddin Mollah and Hosne Ara Begum.

The meeting recommended development of  the Navy as a time-befitting, modern and pro-people force.

To gain practical knowledge about the activities of the three forces, the standing committee members decided to visit the Armed Forces Division on January 14, the army headquarters on February 2, the Naval headquarters on February 11 and the Air Force headquarters on February 23.

Navy chief Vice-Admiral M Farid Habib, Air chief Air Marshal Inamul Bari and senior officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.
