The parliamentary standing committee on Environment and Forests Ministry on Sunday recommended launching a joint drive with the members of Rapid Action Battalions (RAB), police and other law enforcement agencies to stop the widespread use of polythene shopping bags, reports UNB.
The committee also recommended filing cases under forest conservation law against those, including government officials, involved in cutting down trees of Chittagong Railways without Forest department's permission.
The recommendations were made at a meeting of the committee at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the city.
The standing committee also recommended sending a letter to Law Ministry to form environment court and make it effective.
