JS body for realisation of Tk 774.62m compensation from RHD

The Parliamentary standing committee on public accounts(PA) recommended Tuesday realisation of Tk 774.62 million compensation from roads and highways (RHD) department within 30 days through book transfer method on account of dispossessing 97.295 acres of railway land and  removal of infrastructures.

The PA committee also suggested steps to realise Tk 406.02 million unrealised money from various public and private organisations as trade licence fee and penalty within next two months and submit the receipts to the audit office to resolve the matter. The committee also recommended realisation of Tk 1.63 million from Panama Banaspati Ltd at Kalurghat in Chittagong as licence fee VAT of 16,000 sqft commercial plot and tax at source.

The committee asked the railway ministry to settle the cases quickly against the audit objection involving Tk 192.04 million as government's loss due to realisation of licence fee of railway land from Grameenphone Ltd at a lower rate than it is fixed in the policy.

Besides, the committee suggested the railway ministry to realise Tk 5.19 million from 359 agriculture licensees of 10 kachari offices under Pakshi division, Tk 31.94 million as land and structure cost on the abandoned railway bridge on Atrai river, Tk 9.47 million as trade licence fee and penalty under various kachari offices in Pakshi, Tk 36.35 million as licence fee from different station licence holders in Lalmonirhat.

The PA committee asked Bangladesh Railway (west) to realise the money as the government incurred loss due to grabbing of 3387,27 acres of railway land within next two to three months, correction of leasing rate, submit the receipts of realised money to the audit office and strengthen lobbying to settle the cases.  

The committee formed a three-member sub-committee with the additional director general of BR as convener and asked it to submit its report within two months.
