JS body for transparency in climate change trust fund use

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Planning recommended Wednesday ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of climate change trust fund, reports BSS.
The committee also recommended to bring climate change related activities under planning ministry's monitoring wing. The fifth meeting was held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee chairman Abul Kalam Azad in the chair, said an official release.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, state minister for planning MA Mannan, Shawkat Ali and Muhibur Rahman Manik attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed of the government's success and development of health and education sectors along with economic growth and decline of inflation rate to 7.8 per cent from 8 per cent.
The ministry has a plan to ensure 100 per cent pure drinking water to all and continuation of dredging activities round the year for navigability.
The committee was informed about the implementation of the 6th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015). The meeting was also apprised of the activities of formulating the 7th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).
The committee passed few recommendations to expedite the activities of planning commission.
