The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Welfare Ministry recommended Tuesday taking measures to provide quota facilities to the children of people with disabilities like the quota system for freedom fighters, reports BSS.
The recommendation was made at the 6th meeting of the standing committee at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee chairman M Mozammel Hossain presiding.
The meeting discussed the latest progress of the ongoing survey to identify disabilities.
It recommended to the finance ministry to increase allocations for the social welfare ministry to turn the country into a welfare state by ensuring socio-economic development of the distressed, the poor, the orphans, the elderly people, the widows and the people with disabilities.
The meeting discussed the current situation of urban social services, hospital social services, and activities of maternity centers in rural areas.
It recommended providing training to the officers and employees of social welfare ministry and observing social services week.
