JS committee for forming body to probe graft

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on Sunday recommended forming a committee to investigate the complaint of corruption in the tender process related to the purchase of vaccines, reports BSS.

The committee of the 12th parliament made the recommendation at its maiden meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its chairman M A Mannan in the chair.

In the meeting, the committee said a three-member committee comprising its members B M Kabirul Haque, Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayon and Moshiur Rahman Mollah Shajal should be formed to submit the investigation report within 15 working days.

The parliamentary watchdog suggested the ministry to suspend the ongoing recruitment process of the Department of Livestock Services as the decision regarding the quota system is pending in the court, the release added.

Committee members S M Rezaul Karim, Md Abdur Rahman, B M Kabirul Haque, Chhoto Monir, Nur Uddin Chowdhury Noyon, Moshiur Rahman Mollah Shajal and Most Ashika Sultana attended the meeting.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, and the heads of various organisations along with the officials concerned of the Parliament Secretariat were also present in

the meeting.

UNB adds: the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Planning Ministry on Sunday directed the ministry to submit a list of long-running projects that have shown slow progress and have received repeated time extensions.

The committee also instructed the ministry to provide detailed reasons for the delays in their report, which is to be presented at the next meeting.

The meeting, held at Sangsad Bhaban and chaired by MA Mannan, focused on expediting project implementation. The committee urged concerned ministries and departments to review and improve procedures to increase the work speed of ongoing projects.

Emphasising the need for faster and more dynamic development, the meeting called for coordinated participation from all parties involved in project implementation.
