JSC exam under Ctg board 2,095 absent on 1st day

CHITTAGONG, Nov 7: A total of 2,095 examinees did not sit for Junior School Certificate (JSC) Examination under Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chittagong on its first day (Friday).
Chittagong Board officials said a total of 140,651 students enrolled for the examination, but the attendance of candidates on the first day was 138,556.
Dr Pijush Datta, controller of examinations of Chittagong Education Board, said the first day of examination was held peacefully, and there was no report of expulsion.
The examination started at 9.00 am and ended at 12.00 pm. A large number of guardians gathered outside the centres, as Friday was a weekly holiday.
Students of 1,225 schools from Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban districts under the board participated in the examination through 199 centres.
The JSC and JDC examinations were scheduled to start from November 2, but the date was deferred twice due to Jamaat-e-Islami’s nationwide strike.
