JSC, JDC exam results unlikely on Dec 30

Publication of results of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and its equivalent examinations scheduled for December 30 has become uncertain amid frequent blockades and shutdowns sequel to the volatile political situation in the country.

Sources in the education boards said the authorities failed to distribute the answer scripts to the examiners in due time resulting in the delay of the publication of results.

Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof Taslima Begum said uninterrupted violent political turmoil like countrywide shutdowns and blockades have been adversely affecting the publication of results as the country's communication system remains fragile for the last two months.

"We are not sure whether the results of the junior graders will be ready for publication by the deadline", the board chairman also coordinator of the inter- education boards said.

Talking to the FE the Dhaka Board chairman said they are trying their level best to maintain the deadline and the boards' chairmen will meet the Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid in this regard very soon.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid recently reiterated his position on publication of the results of the country's one of the largest public examinations by the deadline.

He said despite adverse political situation the education ministry is ready to publish the results and distribute the textbooks across the country on first working day of the next year.

Talking to the FE National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Chairman Prof M Shafiqur Rahman said overcoming all the obstacles, the authorities will reach the new books to the students on the first working day of 2014.

This year, 19,02,746 students - 10,07,655 female and 8,95,091male - took part  in the JSC and JDC examinations. Of them, 15,87,313 students under JSC and 3,15,433 under the JDC examinations.
