The admission tests of Jahangirnagar University (JU) for the 2025-26 academic session will begin today (Sunday), amid presumably stiff competitions.
A total of 219,399 admission-seekers have applied against 1,842 seats, meaning an average of 119 students will compete for each seat, according to Member Secretary of the Admission Committee and Deputy Registrar (Academic) Syed Mohammad Ali Reza.
As in previous years, the admission tests will be held under seven units and will continue until December 31.
Among all units, the highest level of competition is expected to be seen in the 'D' unit under the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
Against 310 seats, a total of 70,220 applications have been submitted, meaning 226 candidates will vie for each seat.
The 'A' unit has received 60,351 applications against 426 seats, suggesting that 141 students will join the admission battle for each seat.
In the 'C' unit, which includes Arts, Humanities and the Faculty of Law, 47,497 candidates have applied for 466 seats, putting the seat-wise competition at 101.
In the 'IBA-JU' unit, 5,411 candidates have applied for 50 seats, implying that 98 applicants will fight for each seat.
The 'B' unit under the Faculty of Social Sciences received 20,583 applications for 326 seats, meaning 63 candidates will battle for each seat.
Meanwhile, the 'E' unit under the Faculty of Business Studies witnessed submission of 11,612 applications for 200 seats, while the 'C1' unit comprising Drama and Fine Arts received 3,725 applications for 64 seats.
Both units have a competition rate of 58 candidates per seat.
University authorities have taken necessary preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the admission tests, officials said.
