Jahangirnagar University hosted a discussion titled "Meet The Ambassador: Talking Diplomacy for Cooperation", aiming to strengthen academic and diplomatic engagement between Bangladesh and Germany.
The programme was held on Wednesday (May 20) at Senate Hall, jointly organised by Center for Governance Studies (CGS) and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES).
German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Rüdiger Lotz attended the event as the chief guest, where teachers, students and researchers from different universities took part in an interactive discussion on diplomacy, youth engagement and bilateral cooperation.
Speaking at the programme, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan described Germany as an important development partner of Bangladesh and a symbol of knowledge, discipline and innovation for the country's young generation.
Referring to the recent student-led mass uprising, he said the aspirations of the people following the movement had created a strong need for proper guidance and empowerment of the country's talented youth to contribute to national reconstruction.
He added that the university wants to make its education system more research-oriented and better connected with industry, adding that Germany's long experience in these sectors could play a significant role in this regard.
