JU, NSDA sign deal to conduct joint research projects

Jahangirnagar University (JU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) at the Prime Minister's Office in the city on Tuesday.

The MoU outlines a series of collaborative efforts between JU and NSDA to conduct research and training programmes.

The initiative will address the demand for job skills in both local and international markets, provide certificate training for students in various market-relevant skills, transform university teachers into master trainers, revise and update the university curriculum to align with industry needs, and promote joint research and skill development projects between academia and industry. Additionally, the partnership aims to develop skills of university officials and staff.

JU Treasurer Professor Dr. Rasheda Akhtar and NSDA Member (Joint Secretary) Md. Johar Ali signed the agreement.

In his speech on the occasion, JU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Alam praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 'Smart Bangladesh' vision, describing it as an example of innovative leadership.

He highlighted the university's 'Smart Jahangirnagar Campus' initiative, taken as part of the vision. It aimed at implementing IT-based skill development programmes to prepare students for future job market.
