Jahangirnagar University (JU) observed its 56th University Day on Monday (January 12, 2026) amid colourful programmes and wide participation of teachers, students, officials, employees, and alumni.
The day-long celebration began at 9:30 am with the gathering of teachers, students, officers, staff members, and invited guests at the Mrittamancha in front of the old Arts Building.
At 10:00 am, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, as the chief guest, opened the University Day programme by hoisting the national flag and delivering an inaugural speech. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Sohel Ahmed, and Treasurer Dr Md Abdur Rab were present on the occasion. The inaugural ceremony was conducted by Acting Registrar Dr A B M Azizur Rahman.
