JU poised for a tough admission test this yr

136 aspirants will vie for one seat

Jahangirnagar University (JU) is going to hold an admission test marked with stiff completion this time as a total of 2,49,857 students have applied to enroll under the academic year 2022-23 against total 1,844 available seats.

An average of 136 candidates will vie for each seat, said Abu Hassan, member secretary and deputy registrar (education) of the university's Central Admission Management Committee, adding 1,34,507 male candidates and 1,15,350 female candidates applied to take part in the intake examination.

In 'A unit' under the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Studies and Institute of Information Technology (IIT), 61,864 students will compete for 446 seats while in 'B unit' under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law, 41,469 students will contest for 386 seats.

Similarly, in 'C unit' under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, 41,455 applications have been received for 388 seats.

The 'C-1 unit' under the Department of Fine Arts and Drama and Dramatics has received 5,065 applications for 64 seats and the Faculty of Biology under 'D unit' has received 76,064 applications for 310 seats.

In 'E unit' under the Faculty of Business Studies, 18,097 students have applied for 200 seats and for getting admitted to the Institute of Business Studies (IBA), 5,843 students have applied for 50 seats.

The admission test will be held from June 18 to June 22.
