Dr Md Monwar Hossain, a professor of the Department of Zoology at Jahangirnagar University (JU), has been selected for the National Environment Award- 2023.
He will be given the honour for his outstanding contributions to environmental research and innovation.
He has been nominated in the 'environmental research and technology innovation' category for the award.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change revealed this on Thursday. The award distribution ceremony will be held on June 5 marking the World Environment Day.
Professor Dr Md Nurul Alam, vice chancellor of the university, has extended greetings to Dr Md Monwar Hossain for his nomination for the prestigious award.
The VC praised Dr Monwar for his dedicated efforts in advancing environmental research and innovation, which has significantly brightened the university's image. Dr Md Monwar Hossain joined the JU Department of Zoology in 1996. He is renowned for his extensive work in the fields of taxonomy, ecology, and conservation biology of insects.
