Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) under the banner of 'Nipironer Biruddhe JU' brought out a broom procession on Thursday demanding punishment to the culprits who sexually harassed an indigenous female student on Pahela Baishakh night.
The procession started from the registrar building and ended in front of the Old Arts building.
Later at a rally on the campus the participants strongly demanded of the authority to expel the culprits from the university permanently.
President of Chhatra Union's JU unit Tanmoy Dhor said: "The administration is trying to delay the process of investigation as most of the accused are leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)."
Atiya Ferdous Chaity, a student of Economics department, said: "Through the broom procession we want to make the culprits understand that women are not so weak. With this broom we have the prowess to drive away the culprits from the campus any time."
