JUCSU VP, GS pledge to build 'dream campus'

Abdur Rashid Jitu and Mazharul Islam, the newly-elected vice president (VP) and general secretary (GS) of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU), pledged to work with all students regardless of their political affiliations, to build a "dream campus."
Speaking to The Financial Express on Sunday, Jitu said, "Students have placed their trust in me, and I want to repay that trust. My foremost goal is to build the dream campus they envision. Regardless of political affiliation, we will work together. Students' expectations are our expectations."
Mazharul Islam promised inclusive leadership, stressing that all student groups would be involved. He said academic issues would receive priority.
"Politics will not shrink from Jahangirnagar; rather, we will ensure its positive influence and restore a democratic atmosphere."
"The victory of Shibir was 'somewhat expected.' We are interested in working with all, including Chhatra Dal and left-leaning student organisations," he added.
Jitu contested as an independent candidate, while Mazhar represented the Combined Student Alliance backed by Shibir.
