July Oikya demands accountability from India, issues 72-hr ultimatum

July Oikya, a platform representing the July Warriors, demanded that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ensure accountability from India within 72 hours over a statement that described the July Warriors as an "extremist group."
The demand was raised at a press conference held at Madhur Canteen on Thursday. The briefing was addressed by DUCSU Social Welfare Secretary AB Zubair.
Speaking at the event, AB Zubair said India has crossed the limits of diplomatic norms and foreign policy etiquette by labeling the peaceful protests of July Oikya as extremist activities. He strongly condemned the statement, saying that such remarks against former army members and July Warriors are unacceptable.
A B Zubair also questioned India's role during the July Uprising and criticised the alleged provision of asylum to suspects who fled Bangladesh during that period.
He demanded that the government declare Indian High Commissioner Pronoy Varma persona non grata in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
He warned that July Oikya would march to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if accountability is not ensured within the stipulated time. Additionally, he announced that the platform will organise protest rallies in Chattogram, Barishal, and Sylhet on December 19.
