Kamran's mother passes away

SYLHET, Aug 17 (UNB): Khairunnesa, mother of detained Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Mayor-elect Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, died at the Square Hospital in the capital at about 3:00 pm Sunday. She was 80.

Kamran, who contested the August 4 polls from under detention and got re-elected mayor in a landslide victory, was, meanwhile, being shifted to Sylhet Jail from Comilla Central Jail in Sunday afternoon to facilitate his attending his mother's funerals.

Meanwhile, Kamran already started for Sylhet from Comilla Central Jail by a microbus under police escort.
