FE REPORT | March 14, 2026 00:00:00

Four people suffered burn injuries on Friday after a fire broke out at a residential hotel at Khilkhet in the capital. Identified as Mohammad Monsur Ali (32), Md Abdul Matin (67), Mohammad Mahi (17) and Md Abdul Jalil, (67), the four were rescued and brought to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 7:30 am.

Sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit while air-conditioner repair work was being carried out on the ground floor of the hotel in the morning, leaving the four hotel staff members burnt.

Resident physician Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, an assistant professor at the institute, said four burn victims from the hotel fire were brought there. Among them, Monsur sustained 21 per cent burns, Abdul Matin 5.0 per cent, Mohammad Mahi 5.0 per cent, and Abdul Jalil 7.0 per cent. One of the injured has been admitted, while three others have been kept under observation.
