CHITTAGONG, Jan 27 (UNB): Police recovered the decomposed body of a young man from near a poultry farm at Yeakubdandi under Patiya Upazila Monday, seven days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Ashraful Alam Apu (16), son of Muhammad Idris of Nayarhat area in the Upazila. Nurul Absar, uncle of the deceased, said Apu went out of his house for attending a wedding party on January 19 and since then, he remained missing.
Later, some unidentified miscreants called his mother Parveen Akhter and demanded Tk 10 million as ransom, saying they kidnapped Apu.
A general diary (GD) was filed in this connection on January 25.
The kidnappers then called Parveen and Patiya thana police Sunday night and asked them to recover the body of Apu, said Mafiz Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patiya thana.
