Killers of children must be punished: Quader

August 20, 2015 00:00:00

Awami League presidium member and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said Wednesday the killers of innocent children and the attackers of the pregnant woman would not be spared as the government has already taken stringent measures in this connection, reports BSS.

"Criminals irrespective of political opinions and whoever they might be and whatever influential they are, have to face punishment," he said.

Mr Quader said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at the National Press Club demanding exemplary punishment to the perpetrators of the August 21 grenade attack in 2004 and paying homage to those killed in the carnage.

Chaired by Jote president Faruque the discussion was also addressed, among others, by Jote general secretary Falguni Hamid, Dhaka City Awami League vice-president Faezuddin Miah and Dilara Yasmin.

Mr Quader said, "Minor child Sheikh Russell and a pregnant woman were among those brutally killed on August 15 in 1975 but today's protesters didn't raise any protest against that, which was very unfortunate and painful."
