Korean companies are keen to work in partnership with the public and private authorities in the country's various development activities including infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), cyber security, digital governance and carbon compliance.
In a roadshow on Monday, participating firms expressed optimistic about the faster development with the Korea's experiences in these sectors which also include smart cities, power, water, transport and industrial modernisation.
KOTRA Dhaka, the Commercial Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangladesh, organised the AI-ICT and Infra Road Show 2026 at a city hotel on Monday to link Korean technology, engineering and implementation capacity with Bangladesh's ongoing and upcoming development priorities.
Representatives from 40 Korean firms attended event inaugurated by Korean Ambassador Kim Ji-joon. Chief of Physical Infrastructure Division of Planning Commission Kabir Ahmed and ICT Division Arafat Mohammad Noman spoke on the occasion highlighting the country's potential sectors and scope of working together to achieve the country's vision for a trillion dollar economy by 2041.
The Ambassador laid importance on strengthening the economic ties between Korea and Bangladesh.
Mr Kabir emphasised aligning the government's election manifesto with future projects including a smart transport system and energy.
ICT Division Arafat Mohammad Noman highlighted the country's achievement in the ICT sector and invited the Korean firms for a strong strategic international collaboration particularly in the fields of semi-conductors, robotics an AI driven infrastructure. He also requested the Korean firms to six strategic priorities.
Five Korean firms presenting technologies and services shared respective companies' working arena and showed interest in Bangladesh's infrastructure development and digital transformation.
Thomas Jong of Kim and Chang, Korean's largest law firm, focused on the Korean expertise on digital product passport (DPP) and other global compliance and stressed the need for working together with the government, industry and academia for accuracy in the data system.
He also showed interest in combined consulting and ICT solution to help Bangladesh's ready-made garments (RMG) factories for anticipated new EU export-compliance regulations.
Mr Jong who joined virtually named the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and DPP and said Kim & Chang addresses the regulatory and compliance dimension, while CODEVISION introduced AI-driven agent and data solutions supporting DPP implementation.
