The government of Saudi Arabia has turned down the request of Bangladesh to raise the quota of Hajj pilgrims by 25,000 from its fixed quota of 101,758, reports UNB.
However, the Religious Affairs Ministry has continued its efforts to increase the quota fixed by the Saudi government last year.
If the Saudi government approves this, the ministry will circulate it for all concerned through radio, television and other mass media, said an official release on Tuesday.
The ministry also asked the Hajj agents concerned to complete all the necessary formalities, including opening bank account in Saudi Arabia and depositing money, completion of house-rent agreement and agreement with the Muallem in Saudi Arabia by June 18.
Legal action will be taken against the hajj agents if they fail to complete the formalities within the given date, the release added.
