The last surviving victim of the explosion caused by a gas pipeline leak at a house in the Natun Bazar area under Vatara Police Station of the capital died on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Fahima (21).
She died around 9:45pm while receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. She died a day after her husband Md Shaheen (24) and her eight-year-old niece Hafsa succumbed to their injuries sustained in the incident.
With Fahima's death, all the burn victims of the incident succumbed to their injuries.
Resident Surgeon of the burn institute, Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, said the three victims were brought to the institute on July 21 after they sustained burn injuries in the explosion triggered by a gas line leak. He said Fahima had suffered 45 per cent burns. Hafsa died around 12:00am and Shaheen passed away around 6:00am on Friday.
The explosion occurred in a house on the 300-Foot Road in the Natun Bazar area in the early hours of July 21.
