Legal steps, if anyone creates public sufferings

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) warned of taking legal actions, if anyone tries to block roads and create public sufferings.
"Police will take legal actions, if anyone tries to seize roads in the name of blockade programme (students' movement against quota) and create public sufferings," said DMP additional commissioner (crimes and operations) Dr Kha Mohid Uddin. He issued the warning at a press briefing at DMP Media Centre in the capital on Thursday.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Wednesday gave status quo on the High Court verdict regarding preservation of quota in the government jobs following the students' ongoing anti-quota movement.
The students, who are opposing quota system in the government service and demanding reinstatement of the circular 2018, have been observing 'Bangla Blockade' across the country.
"The apex court (the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court) gives status quo on the High Court verdict. So, the students have no scope to create public sufferings from Thursday," the DMP additional commissioner opined.
Asked if the students continue their movement despite the government's directive and the highest court's order, he said it would be treated as a crime as per the DMP Act and the country's existing laws.
