Loading, unloading, delivery almost normal at Ct Port

CHITTAGONG, Nov 5: Despite countrywide shut down enforced by political forces the loading, unloading and delivery of containerised and bulk cargo at Chittagong Port was almost normal, port officials said.
Works in the main jetties, special berths and outer anchorage of port are going on in full swing and workers have been cooperating fully, they said.
Director (Traffic) of CPA Golam Sarwar has said there was no negative impact of hartal in the cargo handling activities and delivery of containerised cargo are going on in full swing like that in normal time.
"There is no report of any disturbance in delivery of cargo either as there is no picket on the road to create disturbances," said Deputy Traffic Manager Mr Sarwar, another senior officer of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA).
In 24 hours until 8.00 am Wednesday, 2684 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) containers were delivered on Tuesday and 1415 TEUs containers delivered on Wednesday.
Besides, 78 TEUs containers have been dispatched to the Kamalapur ICD (Inland Container Depot) and 1255 TEUs to the private off-docks, totaling 5432 containers during the 24 hours.
24284 TEUs containers were lying in the port on November 4 and 23036 TEUs on Wednesday.
