The low over northeast Bay and adjoining areas intensified into a well marked low and now lies over northeast Bay and adjoining northwest Bay, reports UNB.
It is likely to intensify further into a monsoon depression and move in a north or northwesterly direction, said a special bulletin of Met Office.
Under its influence, squally weather may continue over the ports.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.
Under its influence, the low lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Chandpur, Barguna, Pirojpur, Jhalokati, Bagerhart, Khulna, Satkhira and three offshore inlands and chars are likely to be inundated by tidal water.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to remain in shelter until further notice.
Another bulletin of Met Office said heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions during next 24 hours beginning 10:00 am Wednesday due to active monsoon over the country and deep convective cloud over north Bay.
