Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury has said the government is determined to find ways to address the problem of Bangladeshis awaiting flights to take up jobs abroad, reports UNB.
Iftekhar, also in-charge of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare, said this while presiding over an inter-ministerial meeting at the Foreign Ministry Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by secretaries in-charge of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Expatriates' Welfare and Foreign Affairs.
The meeting discussed certain possible solutions like increasing frequencies of airline flights, 'open sky' policy for Bangladeshi airports and opening of extra booths in BMET (Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training) to assist the workers flying abroad.
"Our outgoing labour force is increasing rapidly. As of now, there is inadequate capacity to facilitate their travel. The government is determined to find ways to redress this problem," Iftekhar told the media.
