Madhu Dey's sculpture found broken, repaired

The left ear of Madhu Sudan Dey's sculpture in front of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) building on the Dhaka University (DU) campus was repaired shortly after being found damaged on Wednesday night.

Arun Kumar Dey, eldest son of Madhu Sudan Dey, and current owner of Modhur Canteen, said, " I went back from the campus in the evening on Wednesday and around 7:30pm I heard the news and went there to justify it. After going there, I saw an ear of my father's sculpture was broken."

"After informing it to the Vice Chancellor, the proctor, Shahbagh Police Station and the Chhatra League leaders, they came to the spot and we repaired it," said Arun Dey.

DU Proctor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani said the broken ear of the sculpture was repaired fast after hearing that it was damaged.

However, he could not confirm how and when the sculpture got damaged.

He also said they are looking into the matter to find out the culprits.
