CHITTAGONG, Sep 28 (BSS): The Madunaghat bridge over the river Halda under Hathazari Upazila on Chittagong-Kaptai highway in the district was opened for traffic Sunday.
Communication Adviser Major Gen (rtd) Golam Kader inaugurated the bridge by cutting a ribbon at 10:30 am this morning.
Golam Kader visited the newly built bridge and expressed satisfaction over construction work.
Secretary of Communications Ministry Mahbubur Rahman, Chief Engineer of Roads and Highway Mohammed Nihar Meah, Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Ashraf Shamim and other high officials of the Roads and Highway department and local upazila administration accompanied, among others, the adviser.
The 211.20 metre long PC Girder bridge is very important for the people of Hathazari, Rangunia and Raozan Upazilas in the district and Chittagong hilly area. Road and Highway department, Chittagong, implemented the much-awaited bridge at a cost of Tk 172.30 million. It was a fully government funded project. The countless sufferings of 2.0 million people of Chittagong north and Kaptai ended through inauguration of the bridge.
