Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina urged the filmmakers to make at least one quality film for children every year, and announced cash incentives for such innocuous films that will inculcate values and vision of life into the children's mind, reports UNB.
She made the call while addressing the inaugural function of the seven-day 3rd International Children Film Festival arranged by Children's Film Society, Bangladesh, at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city Saturday.
"Our history, tradition, liberation war, culture, etiquette, human values-all these can be imprinted on children's mind easily through a quality film. Make children-friendly films. The government will provide necessary cooperation in this regard," the Prime Minister said.
She announced that, from now on, the government would provide donation for five films a year, at least one of them children-oriented.
"If you (filmmakers) can satisfy the children, the number of child films receiving state donation may double," she said.
Sheikh Hasina requested the makers of child films to put their best effort in flourishing human qualities of the children through their films.
