Man jailed in cheque dishonour case

SYLHET, Jan 9 (UNB): A court here on Thursday convicted a man and sentenced him to three years' jail in a case filed for cheque dishonour.

The convict was identified as Mahsin Chowdhury, son of Sona Mia of Abi Abdullah village in Bhola district.

The court also fined him Tk 1.8 million.

According to the prosecution, Mahsin took Tk 0.6 million from Abdul Haque, owner of Haque Traders at Kalighat in the city, in 2013 for business purpose.

Later Mahsin handed him a bank cheque for Tk 0.6 million to repay the loan money.

However, the bank refused to pay out the money dishonouring the cheque.

As the cheque got dishonoured repeatedly later, Abdul Haque filed a case.

After examining records and witnesses, Joint District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman pronounced the verdict.
