Man, nephew get life for murder

BARGUNA, May 23 (UNB): A court here convicted Thursday a man and his nephew and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing his brother (father of the nephew) in 2004.

The convicts are Mir Habibur Rahman and Mir Abu Saleh, son of late Joynal Mir.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each.

According to the prosecution, Joynal Mir, a resident of Angrapashia village in Amtoli Upazila, used to rebuke his son Mir Abu Saleh for not doing regular work.

Over the issue, Abu Saleh beat up his father on December 22, 2004, leaving him critically injured.

At one stage, Mir Habibur Rahman hit Joynal Mir with stick on the head, leaving him dead on the spot.
