The combined medical and dental college admission test will be held on October 2, reports bdnews24.com.
The decision was taken on Thursday at a meeting with Health Minister Mohammed Nasim in the chair.
The hour-long MCQ exam would be held for entrance to all public and private medical and dental colleges.
Bangladesh's 29 public medical colleges have 3,162 seats for the MBBS course while 64 private medical colleges have 5,325 seats.
Nine public dental colleges have 532 seats for the BDS course and 24 private dental colleges have 1,280 seats.
The health ministry earlier set September 18 as a tentative date for the exam.
Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr Deen Muhammad Nurul Haque told the news agency the final decision would be taken at a meeting with the minister.
However, on Thursday, he said they were yet to decide on the date for releasing application forms and entrance procedures.
Meanwhile, the authority of Dhaka University (DU) has decided to scale down its requirements for admission to its English department following the harrowing experience last year.
Only two students could qualify for the 125 seats allocated for B-unit examinees, because they had managed to fulfil last year's requirements of securing 15 in the elective English section, 20 in general English section and a minimum cumulative of 200 marks in English in SSC and HSC examinations.
As a result, the university has decided to not make compulsory to have elective English section this year, Vice-Chancellor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique said.
"Only students, who did not study in [Bengali medium] would answer in the elective English section," he told the news agency. The same clause was in place during the 2013-14 academic year's admissions. He added students would be given a minimum English section score target for admission into the department this year.
