Medical test results published with 58.4pc pass

The results of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) admission test have been published on Sunday with a pass rate of 58.4 per cent, reports UNB.

A total of 48,448 students have passed in the admission test, said Parikshit Chowdhury, senior information officer of the ministry.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jahid Malek announced the results at a press briefing at the health ministry conference room at noon.

The results will be available on DGHS website.

The successful candidates will also be notified via SMS in their contact numbers. The combined admission tests for the country's medical and dental colleges for the 2015-16 academic session was held across the country on September 18.

According to the health ministry, there are 11,049 seats in the 95 government, private medical colleges and dental colleges.

A total of 82,964 admission seekers appeared in the examinations.

Meanwhile, a writ petition was filed with the High Court (HC) on Sunday seeking its directives on the government to cancel the admission test of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) 2015-16 claiming that the question papers were leaked.

Eunus Ali Akond, a Supreme Court lawyer, filed the writ petition.

"The writ petition will be placed before an HC bench comprising Justice Najma Haider and Justice J M Dev Chowdhury on Monday ", said the petitioner. The petitioner also sought issuance of a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why not the medical admission test will be cancelled. He also sought suspension of the admission procedure until settlement of the writ.

He prayed to the court to ask the government for formation of a judicial inquiry committee to conduct an investigation into the allegation of question paper leakage.

"I have noticed the news on question paper leak in the media and I have discussed with the students who appeared in the admission test. I have also collected the copy of a leaked question paper," said the petitioner.

Earlier, the combined admission tests for the country's medical and dental colleges for the 2015-16 academic session were held across the country on September 18.
