Mercury rises in city despite light rain

The mercury rose in the city on Thursday despite a light rain at noon.
Higher humidity and low speed of wind raised the heat on the day, said Met Office.
However, the 11 millimetre rainfall at noon also caused sufferings for the city dwellers, specially the working people, amid water-logging in a few places that raised traffic congestion.
Maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 33.3 degrees Celsius on Thursday which was 31.7 degrees on Wednesday.
Humidity was much higher as 79 to 67 per cent throughout the day.
Wind speed was 10-15 kph which brought some sort of relief in the evening.
The country's highest temperature was recorded at 35 degrees in Rajshahi and the lowest at 24 degrees in Teknaf.
Highest rainfall was recorded at 55 mm in Teknaf.
The Met Office forecasted light to moderate rain in most places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet and Rashahi divisions in next twenty four hours starting from Thursday 6:00 pm.
Rain might also occur only at few places over Mymensingh, Rangpur and Dhaka divisions during the time.
The sun sets at 6:20 pm today (Friday) and will rise at 5:39 am tomorrow (Saturday), according to Met Office.
