The 28th death anniversary of Mirza Ahmed Ispahani, an education enthusiast, business magnate and founder of Ispahani Group of Industries, was observed at the Mirza Ahmed Ispahani High School at Pahartali in Chittagong on Thursday.
On the occasion the school authority arranged recitation from the holy Quran, Dua Mahfil and a memorial meeting presided over by the school's headmaster SM Mojibur Rahman, a press release said.
The programme came to an end with a prayer for salvation of the departed soul.
Mirza Mehdy Ispahani, son of Mirza Ahmed Ispahani, established the school in 1987 on his first death anniversary. Now his grandson Salman Ispahani, managing director of Ispahani Group of Industries, governs the school.
Mirza Ahmed Ispahani contributed a lot to the economy of Bangladesh by founding many industries and business houses. He gradually built an industrial empire of jute, textiles, tea, dockyard and plywood. He also established many educational institutions.
