Green activists at a function alleged on Thursday that mismanagement and ignorance of the authorities concerned are the key reasons behind the accidents occurred at different level crossings, reports UNB.
They said although train is a safe, environment-friendly and popular mass transport in the country, vested quarters are trying to destroy the sector through creating a mess.
Paribesh Bachao Andolon (POBA), Nagorik Odhikar Sangrokhon Forum and Work for Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust jointly organised the human chain programme in front of the National Museum in the city demanding the government take steps to avoid such accidents.
