Modern seed godown under construction

FARIDPUR, Nov 24: Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Faridpur is building seed godown to preserve quality seeds. After building of this godown, three thousand tonnes of seed would be preserved for a fixed period. As such, a large number of farmers of the country's south-west region will get easy access to utilise standard seed to double agricultural production.
This was stated by Md. Anowarul Hossain, Executive Engineer of FGR project of BADC Faridpur while talking to this correspondent.
Construction Division of BADC is building this seed processing godown which will cost over Tk 40 million. On November 14, the executive engineer inaugurated the opening of the seed godown construction.
A representative of construction firm NI/S Mohiul Islam & BTC-JVA said that they were implementing the construction work, which is expected to end on May 31, 2009.
When the seed godown is ready, the farmers of' the area will be ensured to get quality seed all along the year. So the agricultural production will double and economy of the area will get a boost.
