Modernise Betar further to sustain competition: PM

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina underscored Monday the need for further modernisation of Bangladesh Betar to sustain in the competitive era and assured that her government would extend all sorts of support to this end, reports BSS.
"The importance of Bangladesh Betar is endless. So, I hope that all concerned, including officials, employees and performers of Bangladesh Betar, would further modernise the organisation through its technological development by realising its importance," she said.
"We would extend all sorts of cooperation for further modernisation of Bangladesh Betar to keep pace with the competitive era," she added.
The PM said this while addressing the inaugural function of the "Diamond Jubilee" marking the completion of 75 years of state-run Bangladesh Betar.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu said Monday that Bangladesh Betar has been playing a significant role in upholding the culture and tradition of Bangalees for 75 years.
"Bangladesh Betar is playing a pivotal role upholding Bangalees' historic and cultural heritage ... I hope it will do the same in the future to build a non-communal and poverty- free nation as promised by the government."
Mr Inu said this while addressing a colourful procession organised by Bangladesh Betar in celebration of its diamond jubilee. The procession started from Bangladesh Betar office at Shahbagh and ended at the same place after parading through city streets Monday morning.
