More new coaches on cards for Eid: Mazibul

DINAJPUR, May 9 (BSS): Railways Minister Md Mazibul Hoque said Saturday Bangladesh railways is contemplating to add more coaches in its fleet to ensure better service during the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
"The authority concerned has taken pragmatic steps including providing new coaches and locomotives to ensure smooth and comfortable journey for Eid passengers," he said while inspecting the repair works of trains at Parbotipur and Syedpur workshops here Saturday.
The minister told journalists that his government was working to provide a satisfactory train service for the passengers who will travel to and from Dhaka and outside the capital on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr, scheduled for July next.
He said all officers and employees are working round the clock in this regard and all the trains will run on schedule while all necessary arrangements are in place for the smooth service.
"The better train service for our people is the prime target… And we are trying hard and soul for that," Mazibul added.
Local lawmaker Whip Shawkat Chowdhury, acting secretary of railways ministry Feroz Salah Uddin, director general (DG) of railways Amzad Hossain, ADG (RS) Khalilur Rahman, managing director (West) Khairul Alam chief engineer (West) Mahbubul Haque Bashir among others, accompanied the minister .
