Mother, daughter injured as train hits rickshaw

A mother and her daughter were injured when a passenger train hit the rickshaw carrying them through Karwan Bazar rail crossing in the city, the police said.
The accident took place at around 12noon Tuesday when Mymensingh-bound Balaka Express struck the rickshaw while it was trying to cross the rail line avoiding the vehicles' barrier, leaving them injured.
Smriti Akhtar (26), and her daughter Tarassum Akhtar (10), were rushed to Orthopaedic (Pangu) Hospital at Shere Bangla Nagar in the city. Smriti Akhtar remains in a critical condition.
