The police and local people said Lippy (22), wife of Arif Talukder, took her 19-day-old daughter, Synthia, to Chanmari Bridge adjacent to their house at dawn and dropped her into the water under the bridge.
Local people later recovered the body and informed the police of the matter.
The police arrested Lippy.
It was not clear why Lippy killed her daughter.
