The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) caught red-handed on Monday the headmistress of Motijheel Government Primary School while taking extra money from guardians against different academic fees.
Later the headmistress was stripped of her position by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education following a recommendation of the ACC.
Earlier, guardians lodged complaints to ACC Director General (DG-Admin) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, also chief coordinator of (Enforcement), through the anti-graft watchdog's hotline-106.
A team of ACC led by Assistant Director Nargis Sultana carried out the drive.
The team found Headmistress Noor Jahan Hamida taking between Tk 1,000 and Tk 1,500 from each of the guardians in the name of various fees without providing any money receipt.
The complaints said Mrs Hamida had misbehaved with guardians of poor students and did not even allow them (students) to take admission in the school.
She received Tk 0.57 million from the guardians for admission purposes for the year 2019, they alleged.
The ACC will soon give back the money to the guardians, said Mr Chowdhury.
