Two years after its second formation, the nine-member Judicial Pay Commission (JPC) has been recast to prepare a pay scale for the lower courts, reports UNB.
The JPC has been reconstituted with Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, a judge of the Supreme Court, as its chairman.
The eight other JPC members are Justice M Nuruzzzman, Law Commission member Dr M Shah Alam, the Comptroller and Auditor General, the Finance Ministry Senior Secretary, the Public Administration Ministry Senior Secretary, the Law Secretary, the Supreme Court Registrar and the Dhaka District and Sessions Judge.
The reconstituted JPC came into effect on December 17.
The JPC was first set up in compliance with the enactment of Bangladesh Judicial Service Pay Commission Rule 2007 in pursuance of separation of the judiciary from the executive following a Supreme Court judgment on the Masdar Hussain case.
The second JPC was formed in 2012.
